3 Recent Reads – August

September 12, 2018 0 Comments

Recent Reads in 2018:

I’m still finding it crazy that August has come and gone! Halloween time is fast approaching us! I’m here to share my recent reads from 2018 today!

Anyway, recently I’ve been picking up a few books here and there, and haven’t talked too much about them. I thought I would share some recent reads from the last few months, and share why you might want to check them out.

What I’ve Been Reading Recently:

First up, is Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love.

I absolutely loved this book, I thought it was very funny, easy to read and extremely relatable. If you’re interested in non-fiction/memoir books, which discuss adult life and dating then definitely pick this one up – I recommend it!

Next, is Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager. A new thriller released in July.

I’m not going to spend too long here, as I’ve been talking an awful lot about it recently, but I loved this book. Although I found the final reveal and ending somewhat meh and rushed.

Still, if you’re in the mood for a twisty thriller, set at a creepy camp – I’d highly recommend this one! Especially, for halloween – this would be a perfect read.

Finally, we have Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott.

This is a backlist book from a few years ago, and is a YA thriller. It is about a young girl who is kidnapped and held by a man. As we see the world through this girls eyes, the story is intensely creepy at times. All you want is for her to escape and be safe – and yet there are times where she is incredibly unlikable.

Overall, I felt the writing and plot was fairly childish (although it was a YA thriller -which tend to be so). There was nothing really special about the plot, which although creepy wasn’t very surprising. I would recommend the read, if you like more psychological thrillers and if you want a shorter read. I raced through this one, at just about 200 pages.

What have you been reading recently? What would you recommend?

Let me know, down below!
